زمن الماضي البسيط The Past Simple Tense يُستعمل هذا الزمن للتعبير عن حدث بدء وانتهى في الماضي , حيث يمكننا الاستدلال على الزمن الماضي من النظر الى الفعل اذا كان بصيغة الماضي , بمعنى ينتهي ب (ed) اذا كان قياسياً او بشكل اخر اذا كان شاذاً او اذا احتوت الجملة على بعض الظروف التي تشير اليه مثل ... ago, in the past , last night , last week , last year , yesterday , in 1999 … etc وكما في الامثلة التالية ... Peter arrived at our house yesterday. I went to the cinema last night. لاحظ ان (did) تشير الى الماضي في السؤال Did you sleep well last night? I was born in 1988. I had a nice car. It happened many times. I met him two days ago. ويكون الفعل بصيغة الماضي بعد بعض العبارات ومنها مايلي ... · بعد ( I wish) ومعناها اتمنى مثل ... I wish I had a garden like yours. · بعد (as if) ومعناها وكأنه مثل ... Mr. Lewis acts as if he owned the house. · بعد (as though) ومعناها وكأنه مثل ... She walks as though she was a queen. · بعد (It is time , It’s about time) ومعناها حان الوقت مثل ... It is time you learnt English. It is about time you told me the truth. · بعد (if only) ومعناه ليت او اتمنى مثل ... If only I were clever. · بعد (would rather) ومعناها افضل مثل ... I’d rather you did it yourself. · انتبه الى الصيغ التالية حيث يستخدم الماضي عند السؤال عن الشخص الذي فعل شيء مثل ... Who told you that? Who wrote Animal Farm? · بعد الجمل الشرط الماضية يكون جواب الشرط ماضي مثل ... I could help you if you were not so lazy. It would be better if you did it yourself.
