lulu UAE Posted فبراير 12, 2004 Report Share Posted فبراير 12, 2004 The Silk Road It was a group of ancient trade routes that connected China and Europe The routes stretched across about 8050 km of mountains & deserts in central Asia and the Middle East, between eastern China & Mediterranean Sea The Silk Road for its name from the vast amount of Chinese silk carried along it The cities along the Silk Road provided food, water and rest, as well as goods for trade One of those cities was Khotan, which is now known as Hotan, China, was famous for its jade Camel canvas carried most goods across the dry, harsh regions along the Silk Road By AD800, traffic began to decrease as trader's started to travel by safer sea routes A final period of heavy use occurred during the 13th & 14th centuries, when the Mongols ruled Central Asia & China Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
